APLHA PLATOON 3 "TOUGH TIMES DON't LAST, TOUGH MAN DO"
BMTC 220704 – 240904In the early morning run,
With a fieldpack by my side
With a AK in my heart,
And my body full of sweat.
I’m a long long way from home.
And I miss my lover so.
In the early morning run,
When the cold wind blows.
I know, I know
You have to go.
So hurry back home,
I missed you so.
I was enlisted into BMTC ALPHA COMPANY on the 220704. I am considered a last minute batch because I volunteered to do so that I can ORD earlier. (Earlier go in, Earlier come out mah). Because there was 1 batch that came into ALPHA earlier than us (the PTP batch, while we are the enhanced one because we passed the NAPFA test), we were only left to ourselves to settle the logistics and administrative stuff as soon as possible. Our section was the most united because we had no choice, if you tried to play punk the whole section will suffer along with you. I did have a tough time converting from civilian life to military life. It was not the physical activities that I couldn’t take it. It was the lifestyle and the unfinished business that I carried from the civilian lifestyle along with me to the military. My bed was situated beside the window and to be honest, I’ve never had a good night sleep during my time at BMTC. I would often wake up at
Nevertheless, I met up with my 3 month JC buddy, David as well as made a new-found mate Jianyuan. Together, we encouraged and push each other on. We were there to look out for 1 another as well as cover each other ass. All of us hoped to get selected for the Officer Cadet Course but perhaps we were the enhanced batch which came in later, all the slots were allocated for those PTP batch except for 1. Jianyuan and me got posted into SISPEC after our BMT while David got posted to Artillery. And sad to say, we didn’t really meet up since our days after BMT.
The most memorable moment during my BMT was during the Parent Visiting Day. My parent bought me a Japanese bento set. My sister made me a mini poster consisting photos of One True Love, my poly friends as well as our sibling photos which I proudly displayed inside my cupboard. (There were always questions asked who are the ladies inside the photo which my standard reply was: go fcuk your own asses! HaHa). It was during that day which I felt I can make all the mistakes in the world and get away from it without fearing whether I will get punished or confined.

The mini poster which my sister made for me so that I will not "go mad thinking about One True Love" (that's her theory) all the time. Haha
The most "Xia Suay" moment is BMT when I "Peng San" (Faint) during my BMT graduating parade. KNNBCCB; rehearsal 4-5 times under the fcuking hot sun and the wet weather never ever did I Peng once but come the actual parade weather good good windy windy I Peng. Thinking back, it was actually quite hilarious. The parents were so damn anxious whether the one who faint is their son and came running to the side of the stadium shouting their son name. What did my parent do? They saw one soldier from Alpha Peng, immediately knew it was me, walked calmly to the side and took a look at me. I was actually conscious by the time I was stretcher inside so I told them I was fine. Fortunately, my PC allowed me to rejoin the parade and therefore I had the opportunity to be like the others hundreds of recruits to toss my jockey cap high up in the sky and celebrate our passing out from BMTC.
