Events That Occurred This Week

This week has been quite hectic without much time for rest. We had our FIBUA (Fighting In Built Up Area) training on Tuesday around Lim Chu Kang area. The lesson was interesting. Everything was new, the concept, the movement, the command and control.. The only grouse was we were using AR15 instead of SAR21so you can imagine our long muzzle hitting against the wall and door frame whenever we move from 1 area to another. Lots of things happened, some funny some not. I was enjoying myself forgetting I should be serious instead until I got a reprimand from my PLT Sgt and it brought me to my senses. Gone were the smile, back came the seriousness. Every time on my way to the training area, (most likely in the western part of Singapore) there is a high probability the vehicle I am traveling in will passed by NTU. And I can only look with envy at the buildings, wondering when I can join them. But alas it is still not my time yet so I have to wait wait wait for another 16 months.

I went on board on the LST on Wednesday night. Her name was RSS Persistence. Before the trip I thought it will be a totally new and fun experience. After reaching shore, I changed my mind. Though the ship was huge, she was rocking left and right the whole night while traveling to South China Sea and it left me with a dull headache the moment I woke up on Thursday. Dull headache was mild thing..my fellow coursemate face was totally pale-white and the normally cheerful him was reduced to cupping his face in his hand while trying hard not to puke. Haha serve him right :-P.. The MG shot wasn’t exactly that fun either. While other details took only btw 5-10 mins to complete the shot, I took almost 1/2hrs because of the fcuking barrel!!! Broke out in cold sweat, knees weak, arm heavy and suddenly I forgot everything what I was taught because I was very much afraid if I pressed anything wrong the MG will misfire. Somehow I think I have a phobia about live firing because of 1 experience that occurred BMTC. Since then I hate range but nevertheless as part of the course requirement, I have to do it. The only highlight of the trip occurred on our way back to CNB when our CO ordered all of us to gather at the flight deck and related to us few stories about the navy. The scenario was perfect. The sun as setting and the wind is cool. I think that was the only thing that appeared to make the trip worthwhile afterall.

Sat was our ECP run. Frankly speaking, I liked ECP run because we can see the beautiful “moving scenery” as we ran from 1 end to another. As we ran along the track, you can see the faces of the young kids staring at us with “awe”, the teenagers wondering whether they are following into our foot step in few years time, the old people nodding their head in approval knowing that there will be a bunch of people looking after our homeland. I think the image alone is much better than all the NE talk they gave us seriously. And if you really want to spot pretty girls, just make your trip to ECP mac where I confirm + guarantee chop you have a whale of time having difficultly focusing on your food!
