This Week Updates
This week passed pretty fast. I had my chemical defence training at sembawang camp. Nothing eventful to mentioned about. It is the same old routine drill which I did before. Then we had our SAW familiarization shoot at PLC. Also nothing to mention about, no one did anything foolish to kill another. Then we had our ECP run on Saturday. Now I got something to mention about.
But first, I was selected to be the platoon IC for this week. For others it may be nothing new but for someone who is always hiding behind the shadow all the way through BMT and SISPEC, this is definitely something new. Luckily the platoon was spilt into 2 groups to complete this week activities so instead of controlling 50 people, it was significantly reduced to 25 people and it made a lot of differences. However, sometimes things still “gar bra” such as giving wrong commands, incorrect numbers of strength and such. In the end, I was constantly teased by my bunkmates. But God have compassion and my buddy aka Mr Zhihao aka Fighting Fish took over me on Friday as I was the ammo escort, hence unable to accompany the platoon to the range. He is the one who criticized me the most when I was the platoon IC and so when he “GAR BRA”, it’s PAYBACK TIME!. Now he knew it’s not that easy to do things even though they may look damn fcuking simple. Being a “polite” person, I did not say much except 1 word for him “KARMA” Ho Ho I’m sure he understand what I mean.
We had our ECP rain on Saturday. The weather doesn’t look good when we left the camp. The weather looks menacing when we started running. The skies opened up when we run. And so we ran under the heavy rain for approximately 10km. Civilians hiding from the rain in the shelter thought we are mad but hey we are soldiers. If we cancel the run and wait for the rain to stop in the shelter, confirmed + guarantee chop super “su seh’ (Lose face) beside us, there were another bunch of girls from Raffles Girl basketball team training in the rain on the beach. No doubts, respects must be given to them for their “garangness”. And so we ran in the rain singing out loud and running in step, bypassing numerous shelters until we came into 1 where they were a bunch of aunties cheering wildly for us with clenched fist pumping wildly in the air shouting: “Jia You”. The wole platoon broke into laughter upon the sight on them. Thanks Aunties. I appreciated your effort.” We were soaked wet to the core and it wasn’t a pleasant Saturday morning to begin with. 1 word to sum up our predicament “PATHETIC.
