S.H.E

I was doing duty in the guardhouse on Sunday night from 1900-2200 when Yes933 FM started to broadcast S.H.E Live concert in the radio. It wasn’t exactly “Live” because the songs they sang during the show was a couple of albums back ago. If I’m not wrong it should be their 2nd album. It definitely brought back fond memories that accompany me through my adolescent year. Back then during my polytechnic years, I supported S.H.E so much so that I practically went to buy 2 REAL, not PIRATED albums. There was also one year where they were due to perform at Ngee Ann City for the radio festival so One True Love and me hopped down, stood and waited for 3 hours just to catch their performance. Fans are likely to choose Hebe over Selina, Selina over Ella as their most supported individual idol among S.H.E but I actually choose Ella over the other two. It’s true she may not be as pretty as Selina, not as wild as Hebe but its Ella funny and “unorthodox” character that attract me to her. She is much daring than the other two, she is much comical than the other two, she don’t mind getting wet and dirty in the course of filming and work and she can definitely pull a stunner on you if you are not aware. And I think its base on her so much so that I developed a healthy/unhealthy interest into lady with short hair, sporty and active personality.

But maturity does catch up as one grows older. I am not always that immature hor. After I went to serve the army, the songs they sang weren’t as inspiring or fascinating as before. Perhaps they have already gone past their sell by date, perhaps each of the 3 ladies are branching out and developing their individual interests, and you do not really hear any news about them in the current radio or newspaper anymore.

But whatever the case, even though the S.H.E “Live” concert was only broadcast for 1 hour, during which I made myself silly by following their lyrics and singing loudly because no one was around. I had an enjoyable time and quite unexpectedly, it bring back fond memories and another source of topic for me to blog on.

Thank You S.H.E.

Liverpool - - Winner Champion League 2005 YOU'll NEVER WALK ALONE Posted by Hello

You know...as usual

  • You know Milan is not going to win the cup when Alonso miss the penalty but still manage to react faster than anyone to whack the ball into the roof of the net.
  • You know Liverpool is going to win the cup when it came from 3-0 down to knock in 3 goals in 10 minutes to make the score 3-3.
  • You know Liverpool is going to win the cup when Andriy Shevchenko made a goal ruled out for offside.
  • You know Liverpool is going to win the cup when Dudek suddenly became the 2nd goalkeeper after Jens Lehman to go on form and perform a miraculous save from Shevchenko in extra time to force the game into penalty shootout.
  • You know Serginho is going to miss the 1st penalty when Dudek flapped his arm up and down, left and right, like a chicken to distract him. <It do resemble jumping jack>
  • You know Pirlo is going to miss the 2nd penalty when Dudek twisted his knee like Mr Dildo (did I spell correctly?) the iconic figure 7-UP.
  • You know Shevchenko is going to miss the last penalty when Dudek made history repeat itself by copying Bruce Grobbelaar’s wobbly knee action to stop Shevchenko shot from going in.
  • You know Steven Gerrad will not leave Liverpool anymore once he got his hands on the winner medal.
  • You know your effort not to sleep while trying to keep awake, performing duty from 3am to 5am, viewing the match, shagging out totally in the morning is worth it when the underdog defied all logical explanation to rise from the dead and secured victory against the great Milan side that is renowned for their defensive play.

Congratulations Liverpool from a not-a-fair-weather- but-support-them-thru-thick-and thin fan of Manchester United who likes supporting the underdog. It is a good final match apart from that between Manchester United and Bayern in 1999.

Romeo And Juliet

I came across this poem in Jerome's blog. Jerome was my platoon mate during our time in BMTC. He is very talented, can draw cartoon, compose poem, considerate, big size yet gentle. He took care of the "xin jiao" when we came in later after the ptp batch. Thus it's not surprising that he got into OCS. The last I heard from him was very long ago...he was selected to be WSO C3 for the Air Force.I'm not sure whether he made it but still I wish him all the best.

THE GIRL (Where are you)

There is a good reason why I can’t move on
For there is a girl I can’t try to make forgot
Being with her means a lot to me back then
And I was always with her whenever I can
I love her not only for who she is
But also the better man she made me exist
She is always cheerful and looks to be living life happily
But deep in her heart, she thrives to be free
So I too always put on a smiley face
So as to brighten her everyday
Day by day, I feel wanting to know her more
For she is the one I have fallen for
Unexplainable, my love for her is profound
And the Romeo in me has never die out
But she is gone, away from me now
I have no idea where she is to be found
I went to places she could possibly be in
But I could only find her in my dreams
The Romeo in my heart bleeds within
For the Juliet I love can never again be seen
I try to swim away from the flood
Form by my blood that bleeds in my heart
I try to forget about her and get over
But I learnt that there’s only one Juliet for a Romeo
The harder I try to find another Juliet and start anew
The more love in me for her I feel
Hence I will go to place mankind had never find
Places where the sun does not shine
I will continue to search and find
Even when I know my life has not much time
Cos there is only one girl in my life
So charming, seductive and all so fine
And when I can no longer walk
No longer able to talk
I will wait
For I hope one day I will see her again
Now you know of this girl
Who stole my heart in every possible way
I have only memories of her
To carry myself through my days

Another Interesting Army Story

During 'live-firing' range training in the Army in National Service (another national institution, hey, why not ban this too?), soldiers who are really, really bad shots are called 'Bobo shooters', by their instructors and comrades.

Now, I used to think that the word 'Bobo' came from the Hokkien rude root word, 'Boh', meaning 'don't have', 'don't got', or 'nothing', but an old Army hand recently left a comment in my Army team blog and explained otherwise:

BOBO is an adulterated version of WOWO. WO stands for 'Washed Out', i.e., hopeless in shooting (like our national soccer team), can't get a single hit.

During those days, there were the english educated and the chinese educated. There were even the Hokkien platoons (where they can't even converse in Mandarin). There were malay, tamil and other language speaking soldiers. Those days ===> 60s and 70s.

We wore name tags with different coloured backgrounds from 1975. Green for English, orange for Mandarin, red for Hokkien, yellow for Tamil, blue for Malay and purple for others (like Teochew speaking). The background colour is for your main language. It would be green if you are english educated. Then, if you could also speak mandarin proficiently, a little orange colour is added to the right end of the tag. You could add several colours if you speak several languages proficiently.

Back to BOBO. As the chinese helicoptered (derogatory term to describe the chinese educated by the english educated) usually mispronounced english terms, they pronounced WOWO as BOBO. We used to joke about it but somehow the term appar to stick since. Trust me. I enlisted in 1973.

Orange for Mandarin. How cool is that?

Best Quote Of The Week

Ir39 wrote: “You did not serve NS. You won’t understand it! Can you imagine slogging for the country in the prime of your life in the camps, and your beloved girl-friend running away with others guy” in reference to the female A*Star Scholar Ms Chng Zhenzhi comments that guys are immature and whine alot after they complete their national service.

Reflecting about the whole event, a simple comment made by her caused The New Paper to conduct surveys in our local University, girls bashing guys for their immature and whining behavior, guys countering back females shouldn't be expected to be treated like princess cause they are definitely not, received alot of negative feedback and comments, retract her statement/proclaimed she was "misquote", did some damage-control saying she is not a male basher and she "like" MEN.Pui!!! She have touch a raw nerve and she paid dearly for it. Who tell her not to follow the age-old Hokkien wisdom : "Kiang Tio Ho, Mai Ke Kiang!" loosely translated as "Clever enough liao, don't be oversmart"

What Are The Keys To Your Heart?

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you're told that you're loved.

You'd like to your lover to think you are optimistic and happy.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is traditional. Without saying anything, both of you communicate with your hearts.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something that will confine you. You are afraid of marriage.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.

Birthday Boy - - Yuehong Kenna Twisted Here, There And Everywhere Posted by Hello

It started to rain very heavily in the afternoon. Thunderstorm, lightning, heavy shower, raining cats and dog but… As a soccer khakis cum good friend for 6 long years, it is a MUST to attend Yuehong 21st birthday celebration at Coasta Sand East Coast.

21st birthday signify a major change from young teenager into young adult and therefore the present also cannot be sui sui bian bian or too han suan. As he stated in his blog he wish to have a ipod MINI, we as his good friend for 6 long years decided to fufill his birthday wish by buying an ipod SHUFFLE for him! I sense a few of you are giggling behind the background but hey it’s still not cheap k. Beside I don’t see any possibilities of his friends buying a ipod MINI for him as well..Haha. At least he can still boost he have an ipod product just like me (I use a ipod shuffle as well btw)

Yuehong is a miser. Yuehong sux big time because he didn’t purchase enough food for his chalet (budget constraint). Yuehong make me go hungry until I threaten to take back the ipod shuffle. But I felt pity for Yuehong because his friends made him drink down cups and cups of vodka. I felt pity for Yuehong because all his friends were there to celebrate his birthday but he was really damn piss drunk to notice what the fcuk is happening. This shouldn’t be the case at all. He is the star for the night. He should be enjoying himself instead of having a pair bloodshot eyes, jerky movement and senseless mumbling for his birthday celebration. I don’t think his friend did a right thing at all to make him drunk.

On my way home from East Coast Park, I saw a road accident involving in a motorbike and a car along Jurong area. The motorcyclist’s belongings were scattered everywhere on the left lane on the road. His motorbike was flung into the bushes. The medics were running towards the ambulance to get medical supplies for the injured motorcyclist. I had a glimpse on him when the taxi I was traveling in went past the spot. His injuries are quite serious but still I hope he will survive.

Before I was enlisted, I have no idea of motorbike at all because majority of my friends drove car. It was only during the Sea Soldier Course in Changi Naval Base when I was formally introduced to motorcycles. I had ridden my friend’s bike a couple of time as a pillion rider. The feeling was great. I enjoyed myself during those rides even though the distance is short. It was very convenient and traveling time was reduced significantly. I even considered enrolling for motorcycles lesson in future after my commander course. My parents found out about me riding bike to my base when I took home my friend’s helmet. They were worried. They scolded, bribed me with $$ to take a taxi instead of bike. But still occasionally when there is no shuttle services available to my base, I still hitch my friend’s bike to book in for duty. Riding a bike is dangerous. All the factors are against you. You will never know when your bike will skidded, when the vehicle beside will suddenly cut into your lane. No matter how safe you ride your bike, it always the Rider VS the Traffic. As you read the newspaper everyday, there is 100% guarantee you can find an article stating an accident involving in a bike. My balls shrink. Suddenly after seeing image of that guy on the stretchers with blood flowing down his neck, belongings strewn all over the road, riding a bike didn’t seem that attractive after all.

I saw too much scenes of unhappiness today for my liking. Today doesn’t seem to be a happy day at all.
