Steamboat at Marina South

Yesterday was my secondary class school outing at Sentosa but I had to do duty so I can’t join them during the morning and afternoon session. Therefore, instead of enjoying myself at the beach scanning for pretty babes, playing beach soccer/volleyball, swimming or enjoying the sea breeze, I spent my entire morning and afternoon doing 1 hour of duty. The rest of the time was spent either sleeping or playing Winning Eleven 8.( Kind of surprising huh? HaHa.) Anyway, I managed to apply for time off to join them for the latter part of the program.

The journey to Marina South for steamboat was tough and frustrated. The moment I stepped out of my base, the only feeder bus left. KNN@!! I walked around 10 mins toward the main road to hail for a cab but all of them were nowhere in sight. The bus came eventually but I figured I will be extremely late if I continued to take public transport all the way to Marina South. The only logical thought that came into my mind was to take a cab from Jurong Point to Tiong Bahru Plaza, take the train to Marina South and upon reaching there, and proceed to take a bus to the final meeting place. So you can imagine my relief when I finally reach and saw the whole load of my secondary school friends!

The attendance was great. A lot of people came; even those whom I have not seen for a period of time…you know who you are. KeKe. The steamboat dinner was fine though the smoke/steam from the hotpot constantly threatened to suffocate me to the point I almost cough to death. It was as though I was eating my dinner beside the smoke grenade. We chatted and mingled around and it was very good to know majority of us was doing well though until now so far not a single one got married, not a single one has struck it rich so far.

We proceed to West Coast Park (Yes that familiar area again because I suggested it and they took up the idea.) to settle down and chit-chat. We or rather I had a great time challenging all the playgrounds as I had not touched them for a long long time. (Would you actually believe me if I tell you there was a time when my group of poly friend actually plays all those rides in 2-3am in the morning?) However, once again, all good stuffs have to end and unfortunately it was me who start the ball rolling because I had to return back to my camp before 0100am.

Jiaan rented a 93 Lancer and him, together with Sinyee and Nick sent me back to my camp after the group dispersed. He offered me to drive the car but as you know, I did not drive any car for the past 1 ½ years so my balls freeze and I kindly reject the offer. Meanwhile, I had to direct him the way to my camp so it’s better for me not to drive. The journey back was smooth. We did not get lost due to my “Ahem” good sense of direction. Once again Jiaan offered me to drive the car and this time round since I generally know my way therefore I took up the offer. The feeling was there once I took my seat and buckle up my seatbelts. Nick was asking me whether he and Sinyee are required to buckle up their seatbelts at the back too. Nah Beh Chao Barney! The start up was quite smooth. The car didn’t die although my clutch and acceleration control was bad because I over rev the engine a couple of time. I changed my gears fast and it produced those REvvv Revvv sound which Sinyee ( If I’m not wrong pardon me) remarked whether I’m driving Initial D.

I was hooked at this very surprise and last min chance to drive a car even though it was quite old and the engine kept making funny noise that I am seriously contemplating whether I should rent the car for next week trip to Sinyee 21st Birthday at East Coast Park. We shall see again.

And therefore, I really enjoyed myself yesterday night but it also left me was a burnt tongue and a bad sore throat from eating too much charcoal burnt food. I will need a lot of Strepsil and herbal tea for next few days.
