I found my role model. Someone whom I hope to be in the same shoes when I reach 40.
We came across each other path, me as an NSF while he as an NSmen when our duty timing coincided with each other. He is a pilot, fly full-time for SIA, very charming, easy-going, friendly and humble with no hint of arrogance even though he is indeed a very rich man. He is also an adventurer, owns a Land Rover Defender, marathon runner, scuba diver, someone who have wealth of experience and seen many parts of the world. It is always very interesting to hear the events he witnessed, the countries he visited; the tales of his occupation and time indeed pass very quickly when we mount duty.
But it’s such a pity his in-camp training will be ending today and he will not be coming back at all in future.
Yesterday, I got very irritated by an idiot who set his alarm for whatever damn purposes. He forgot to reset it and it rung every 10 minutes. So imagine a weary and exhausted you looking forward to having a rest at 0100 in the night after your duty shift and the fucking alarm which sound like a time bomb kept beeping and when it stopped you heaved a sigh of relief but after 10 minutes it rung again. KNNBCCB!
But I am not the unluckiest. What about my buddy Mr. Fighting Fish who was woken up twice in the night and did a back-breaking morning peak duty of checking vehicle because he learnt that his Capt Wong aka Meng Feng Jie, a 30 years old lady with 2 kids got kena targeted to come into vehicle check area. You may choose not to believe it but such was the extent of her charm that we are all bowl over by her presence. Unfortunately, amid all the efforts and preparation Mr. Fighting Fish put in, Capt Wong did not turn up for work today.
My condolences for him.
