Nonsensical Post.

Nonsensical Post. Don’t read unless you are bored.

Yesterday, one of my men and I were walking along the path leading to the guardhouse when he remarked his cat is ill. And so I told him, it’s alright. He can get a new cat once his present cat dies. He got very agitated and cursed me. But I patiently explained to him it’s the same case for us human being. Human can get sick and die too. Clothes get torn and you have to buy a new one to replace it. Just like in the case of TDS, people enlisted into the army and got posted here. People served finish their term, ORD and make way for the newly enlistee. There will always endless of unfinished business waiting for incoming batch of soldiers complete them while the outing batch rejoins the civilian world. The word here is Continuum. Everything gets replaced all the time even if you fail to notice it.

So you just have to imagine, will there enough pies for everyone to share if the old don’t make way for the young?

But of course there are some things that can’t be replaced. Try saying that to someone who has just lost their loved ones. Time may heal their wounds but the scar still remains.

I think their loved ones can live forever without dying as long as they remembered them in their heart.

End of this post. You have wasted 3 minutes reading whatever ideas is churning out from my brain this very moment.

Bullshitting La..

Where all the horses gathered

I’ve been feeling very restless and emotional of late. Perhaps it might due to the fact I did not played any sports at all for the past 1 week. The energy has all accumulated up with no avenue to expand it out. I think it’s getting kind of dangerous because being restless with a wanderingmind can get you into all kind of troubles just to look for the thrills.

Must control, must control..because it often landed me into hot soup last time back.

yH, the tall tall boy has came back from his trip from Taiwan with Priscilla Chan ( that actress in Tong Xin Yuan named Xin Min lol ) He is a damn lucky bastard to be in the same tour group as her.Such coincidence lol! Now he’s going to "Hao Lian" by putting a picture of him with Pris in his MSN picture for the whole world to view.

Tomorrow we are going to celebrate Jy birthday at Clarke Quay. Jy once said people who are born during the end of the year often lose out in term of birthday gifts and such because it coincides with the holidays and so on. It’s okay. Not to worry. Tomorrow we make sure you will enjoy your birthday celebration hopefully. How about a show by “Crazy Horse” cabaret show? (I think still not yet staged ) What about the what “thrill action bungee ride” that shoot you towards the stars? (But that’s is chicken feet compared to your air-borne jump.) We see what we can do tomorrow perhaps.

Friday is a decoy because it masked the unfairness of working on Sat and Sun during our standby.

Don’t you think we are stupid soldiers hor… you pookemaria CSM Sir.

Gonna head back to camp. Lucky he is not coming to work today.

Care for a ride with me?

Life has been a little slow-pace this week and therefore there is nothing much to elaborate about. The weather has started to turn cold to welcome Santa Claus and his red nose reindeer. Not that I mind of really. I like cold weather because you are unlikely to perspire easily. Your appetite is likely to increase to store up the fats to battle against the cold. Your bed might be more inviting for you to lie down on to take a nap and so on. And so yes, I’m all for cold weather during these period of time, provided I don’t catch any nasty or cold.

The same goes for all my friends too. Wear more clothes and drink more hot tea if necessary.

Since there is really nothing to talk about, I rest my case here. Gotta head back to camp soon.

Where is Singapore Soldier?

I am currently in the midst of reading this book "American Soldier" by General Tommy Franks. It captured all the details from the time he got kick out of school to his enlistment, from his time served as an artillery officer in the Vietnam War to a senior commander in operation desert storm during the gulf war and so on. It is quite an entertaining read as he related the incidents and close shave he encountered during the Vietnam War as a forward observer. Think like a soldier while you are reading the book and you are likely to understand what being a soldier is all about.

Grant Me:

One opportunity to influence the course of history.

The foresight to anticipate that opportunity.

The conviction to plan for it.

The fortitude to implement the plan.

The intensity of action to make it work.

The flexibility to change it when it won’t.

The loyalty to self to admit defeat.

The humility owed to victory.

The tenacity to continue.

Early Christmas

And so Ex. Praxis ended off well with everyone in good mood because we received fairly good reviews from the testers.

It suddenly came across my mind how wonderful it might be if we can cease to perform our monotonous duty and ORD immediately once Ex. Praxis is over.

I could still remember the same feeling happening to me once I completed the 24km route march that signifies the end of the Basic Military Training. My OC for that time “Alpha Coy” echo out the common sentiment he experienced during his time as a recruit but he stressed that life still move on, we shall all be splitting up to fulfill the path we are destined to take.

Since then, in a blink of an eye, 1 year has passed but it seems only like yesterday.

And I was brought down to earth immediately after the seniors commander urged us to be ever vigilant and perform our duty well because there will not be any testers appearing on the scene should anything happen to warn us of the impending danger.

When our big boss is happy, anything is possible when any reasonable requests are put forward to him.

A lot of incentives/rewards that are long overdue to us are granted and I suddenly felt Christmas arriving earlier this year than usual. (Btw, I kenna duty on Christmas Eve till Christmas afternoon. Chow Barney!)

Let’s hope life will be better in future for those who are going to complete their exams, for those who are going to ORD soon, for those who are still stuck with national service, for those who are currently working at the mercy of their ever demanding bosses, for the Whole Wide World la!

Why Like That You Tell Me Now?

Afternoon

Scenario: Suicide bomber in Pass Office.

All personnels in Pass Office injured/dead.

Fireman-Lift/Evacuate all injured to safe area.

Feedback from testers: Well Done

And the worst thing of all, I’m not involved at all in this suicide bomber case after waiting so long for it to happen.

Am I too self critical, or are we really performing our duty too well that the infiltrators had no chance to infiltrate, or is it really the problem lies with the testers who are too lazy to test us? I really don’t know.

But while I asked the “old bird” about their experience in last year Ex Praxis, they always kept mentioning how “siong” it is, how mentally stressed and physically tiring the whole exercise will caused. Yet this time, I think I have never been more relaxed. In fact, I feel more energetic participating in this exercise rather than doing normal duty with my original platoon. Perhaps we are the “guests” attached to others platoon or maybe it’s the company and bonding that created so much fun and laughter amid the waiting period for the siren to sound at night that makes time pass so easily in an blink of an eye..

But part of the blame must rest on the tester as well. For last year Exercise, it was pretty normal to have up to 4 activations per day. For this year, if I am lucky, I will most probably be involved in only 1 activation per day.

What the fuck is happening? I have not had enough fun yet. I have not had seen enough action yet. But the bloody exercise is ending tomorrow. This is sad. So much so for all the hype surrounding it. Where is the pride even if we managed to do well in all the activation?

If you think I’m mad to be saying all these, you might as well ask the rest of my platoon mates who were equally as disappointed as me. Talk about taking the easy way out…we are definitely much better than that lol.

There is this powerful drug called:

Adrenaline

That can helped you survive through the long hours of waiting, waiting & waiting

For the long howling siren that spread across the base.

That put you into action what you have been trained to do so.

This is the moment I’ve been waiting for.

From my duty which starts yesterday till today afternoon, I performed my duty extra diligently, extra vigilant...just to wait for something to happen and put us into thick of action.

But KNNBCCB, the siren refused to sound. What replaced it was some mini exercise conducted by our own senior commanders to keep us on our balls. It left me very disappointed when I saw the mounting team, walking towards the guardhouse to replace us in the afternoon. After all the energy & effort, am I just going to send arms and return home to rest?

But while I was still at the guardhouse packing my stuffs to proceed back to the armoury, the SIREN sounded! I was damn happy and excited to hear that. SBO, helmet, rifle were worn in spilt seconds as we gathered to receive briefing from our commanders. In a way, I was lucky to remain longer at the guardhouse than my friends who initially were on their way to the armoury yet turned back half way running toward the FUP.

Coincidentally, the whole BSC Company was on the scene as we were in the midst of handover/take over. The controllers were damn cunning to make use of the transition period to catch us off our guard.

The scenario is: bomb threat detected at XX building and we had to go cordoned off /search for bomb/evacuate all personnels inside the building.

I was part of the evacuation team and therefore we stormed into the building hollering at the top of our voice to direct personnel to the safety point. There was this realism seeping into our minds while we performed our drill because people are moving about wondering what the fuck is happening and we had to establish our authority to make them move. This is certainty not what I expected after spending the past few months training at night in empty building with my platoon using intruders simulated by our own personnel.

All in all, we did relatively well to earn small praises by our OC & CSM who recognize all our effort to perform the drills well. After all the months of stagnating around wandering aimlessly without any certain direction, this is my wake-up call to put in my best effort to make sure we achieved our best possible result not because of my unit, not because of my commanders whom I still think they are fuck up but for myself to remind that I am not as fuck up as what they make us to be and we indeed do have pride instill in us to do our job well even though we absolutely hate it to the core.

Come tomorrow Wednesday - Thursday period, I will certainly be expecting more.

P/s: do i sound very garang? I'm not garang at all. All i did was to transform my anger at certain stuffs into something positive in this exercise.

Cat & Mouse

Do you know something?

Exercise Praxis Starts…..

Tomorrow!

The start of the “Cat and Mouse” game. (Remember Tom & Jerry?)

We are the hunting"Cats" btw...not the mouse being hunted.

I figured it might be an energy-sapping, mentally exhausting exercise.

However, it might be the perfect opportunity for us to showcase to others what we have learnt for the entire past 11 months.

And do you know something?

I got lectured by my CSM for the entire afternoon today.

What a bad omen to start the exercise…

I need her power shot to repel anything, everything that flies toward me.

Gimme some Standards

Went last night with Markie, Cyn, KB for a last minute impromptu supper outing @ Selegie Rocher Beancurd. Though I’m technically extremely tired, I just couldn’t give it a miss because I will be mounting duty today which means to say my weekends for this week is “Gone with the Wind”

We proceed to the Mustafa Centre after our meal. It was quite an eye opener because it was my first visit there. I think it’s even better than Giant for it offers a whole lot more varieties under 1 roof with reasonably cheaper price than NTUC. That’s what Markie claims. (Provided you don’t mind being the fair skinned minority shopping among the darker shades of majority. No offence here though.)

Somehow, I seriously think the standard of Chinese drama serial produced by TCS is getter from bad to worse.

Say for example “Portrait of a Home” shown on golden belt timeslot @7pm. A lot of redundant characters that appears on season 1 are still around at season 2. It seems that there will be a story for each character that appears on screen, whether he/she is playing a big/small part in the overall production.

The end conclusion: the whole picture got so messy, jumping from 1 to another scene. Just like a book that is read halfway yet uncompleted, a entirely new book will be introduced to you by half time and it keep coming and coming until you have so many reading materials to choose from but you have absolutely no idea what the fuck the ending of the first book.

What’s so big fuck about a “big 100 episodes drama production” when the quality produced is shit? I rather you give me a good quality 20 episodes production anytime.

Remembered viewing “福满人间” a few years back? Even though it is a 40 or 60 episodes (couldn’t remember correctly) drama, I’m sure you would have agree with me unanimously it never fails to bring a heartily laughter to everyone who catches the show with its lively contents.

I believe this is the standard “big time drama production” should deliver, instead of never ever ending family squabbles over money.

Perhaps the only good point about "Portrait of a Home” is the emergence of pretty eye candy Jessica Liu aka Ruan Mian Mian which my whole platoon thinks she is hot.

Jessica Liu: e lady from the sunny island of Langkawi!

Aiyah, not much time left to dwell on this topic. Have to go back to camp soon.

Sleep More

There are pretty babes over there!

I think I’m operating on superhero mode while I’m on duty.

And so after doing all my stuffs after I came home, I usually slept at 8pm in the night.

Yeah, that’s right.8pm.

And if given a choice, I would have never ever got up and type this post. I preferred to sleep thru the whole night till the next day at 0600.

Unfortunately, my hungry stomach often let me down with no choice but to get up to forage for food in the middle of the night.

Julius Caesar says: “Veni; Vidi; Vici! “ (I came; I saw; I conquered)

We says: “You came; We saw; We Defend

Stay tuned for more details.

Glory Glory Man Utd ?

And so Manchester United won Chelsea by the score of 1-0 through Darren Fletcher the most unlikely player of all to put the ball into Chelsea impregnable defence.

Perhaps there might be 2 different outcomes after their win.

1) Manchester United can win Chelsea, they can win anyone.

2) Manchester United think they are certainly some big fcuk who won Chelsea yet lost to a mid table or struggling team next.

I think the probability of the 2nd conclusion happening is higher the first but who knows?

Because simply put it: it ain’t over till fat lady sings.

Chemistry

People come, people go.

But when they come back

The chemistry remains unchanged.

Supper outing resumed yesterday after 1 ½ month of inactivity at Simpang Bedok 85.

We enjoyed, doused ourselves silly with lame jokes, grand ambitions, funny insults and future university lifestyle over chicken wing, bak chor mee, satay, sugarcane, oyster omelette and fried carrot cake lying on the tables…all massacred by 9 hungry young adults.

But how come good things never seem to last long enough for us to enjoy? Gonna book in camp for duty now. KNN

p/s: Cynthia, I am not rich enough to be yr sugar daddy. Pls go find KB. He is richer than me. HaHa.

a pity it's aint you

Question of the Day:

If time and tide waits for no man, why do you still reminisce about her?

Laura Ashley Says...

Laura Ashley says to me:

What to do, do to what

Go forth and do your duty

It is your duty which precedes over you

People get sick, get wounded, get killed but the duty gets done

And I got bowled over by the profound meaning hidden inside these words.

Commando Marcus just came back from training in Thailand. And the first words that greeted my ears at 0715am in the morning while I’m still sleeping on Monday when he touched down was 4 letters expletives proclaiming he’s back.

Maybe it’s just our nature to trade insults and vulgarities to one another yet we would just shrug it off with a wave and be best of friend at the end of the day. This year would have been marked as the 4th year of our friendship with several others good buddies. Somehow, you just can’t imagine him being a Commando during our good old times in poly (being such a big artillery cannon as well as wishy washy over matters at times ) but somehow he, along with several others made it and for his Herculean effort, I will give him the respect he deserves for wearing the red beret.

Marcus, Darren, Me, Desmond

Our NS journey path are so vastly different that he always lamented how he would jolly well exchange places with me so that he would not be required to go outfield while I had always secretly held a desire to go outfield chiong sua with my platoon and men because I believed this is what serving the nation is all about instead of opening/closing gates for vehicles and blah blah blah you get the ideas...

NS has turned me from boy to men. It has also made me appreciate even more the bond created among brudders whom you can count on in times of need.
