Why Are You Here?
Friday, June 30, 2006
Yesterday, I went back to camp. Played soccer for 2 hours and felt that I was dying while lying on my bed after I showered because my legs felt so heavy till they can't move at all.
I guessed this is the symptom of an ORD personnel. I'm getting old already.
Climbing out of bed at 6am is difficult. But once I passed that hurdle, it can be quite fun replying to people 1) why am I back there? 2) Is today my ORD date?
What can you ask for more if you can manage to get a bunch of people to play soccer with you?
I think I have teach my guys well...Haha

Au Revoir Amigos Espania~
yesterday on my way from a dinner, I saw a very pretty lady in the MRT cabin. Wah this time no throw bomb. Not the pretty vase type. She was wearing a business wear, fair skin with her hair a little dishevelled which made her even more prettier. She was a picture of calm, with a little dose of zen and I can confirm + gurantee chop she is "THE ONE" !Sometimes I really feel I cannot communicate with my mother at all. It's alright if she can leave me alone but it get worse instead when she goes on to nag and nag and nag and try to impose her "principle" which are like decades ago on me. Then I go like "what the fuck" and wondered why I start to talk to her in the first place because if I keep quiet then she will not have a chance to nag at me.
At the end of the day, it's always about money money and more money. Yeah I agreed saving up is a good habit. Even I tried my very best to save up money for the future. But what the use if you keep scrimp and save for so much and touch wood~ one day something happen? All the money saved will belong to someone else instead. Money spent too much on material goods is no good. But money spent on enriching activities such as self improvement and travelling abroad is alright mah...I cannot understand the old folks at all. It is just like taking the bear out of the cage and putting it in its natural environment but the bear behaves as though it is still inside the cage. Arggg...
Question of the Day: Why did Spain have to lose to make way for a bunch of "Lao Pek" playing their last World Cup? Brazil vs France for the next match and before anyone decided to bet heavily on Brazil to win it..the word of advice is: Remember France 98!

Changjin Didn't Save Korea?
Last night outing @ cuppage was full of comical situation. An outing that was supposely with good attendance end up with me and jy sitting side by side @ the cuppage S11 coffeeshop watching Spain vs Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, it was still an enjoyable experience because Saudi Arabia did actually played well enough to frustrate the spaniards with their awesome through pass throughout the match.
While leaving the cuppage area with Jy to his car for a supper trip to Geylang with Bob, sy and cyn, I chanced upon a "fren" on mine. Actually I did not saw her face, only her back view. I see the figure, I see the hairstyle, I hear her voice, I confirm it is her no doubt. Haha. The whole situation is quite comical because I was wondering if I should walk faster instead but then stop suddenly and wondered why should I do it? Anyway, the awkward situation is prevented when she walked another direction.
The Geylang walk-about is also very funny. What even funnier is that its the ladies who intiated it. But anyway, I must admit it was an eye opener. One of the "crowd" even looked like a korean actress! Nvm, Thai trip sure got more...Hahaha
Damn, South Korea got booted out of World Cup. Asia last pride is gone!

Say Goodbye to Midfield Wizard

What have I been doing these few days?
Well I have been rushing and typing report for my NYAA Gold actually. It is a report long overdue and it is due to a chance meeting with a former mentor that I am picking up the project again since I'm free. So it is now starring at the computer for 2 hours everyday trying to pick up memories of what I did during my poly times and compiling them into a report to be handed in at the end of June.
Secondly, I have been wasting my money making small bets during this World Cup. Although I already know I am probably going to lose instead of win money, I guessed watching the game without betting is kind of boring anyway. But after losing $60 at a point of time, I have limited myself to $10 per day only. Haha.
Life has been a little slow paced lately. Partly the reason is because I stopped running and playing basketball for these period in order to let my ankle to rest. Chanced upon adidas clima cool running shoes @$70 but decided not to buy it even though I need it for a simple reason because I am not running now.
Meanwhile, I guessed we will have to say goodbye to Pavel Nedved making his final appearance in the World Cup. Kudos for his never die-ing spirit in turn of adversity. Yes he may be old (33 years old ) but he is certainty playing much better than players hlaf his age. It is such a pity his teammates are unable to support his talent and progress thru.
Btw, anyone has any part time job that can last from the 1st till the 3rd week of July? I don't have any programs during these period and could certainty find something to do to earn some money.
Meanwhile, for those of you who have extra cash saving in your bank $5K or more, you can try to shift your money to the MAYBANK iSAVvy account because you can earn 2.38%* p.a. PLUS 6%** interest-on-interest every 6 months. This is one of the highest interest rate available in Singapore. NO joke. But the thing is you must park at least 5K in the account at all time to enjoy the offer.
Must make money work for you understand?

So in the end Croatia Bomb against Japan..
But as always bad luck don't come in thrice and I got it right for Korea vs France match.
Still, it didn't manage to cover my losses..Sob Sob
Tonite, for the benefit of Chee Hui who said he will buy the opposite of my choice.
I pick for Swiss to win against Togo. Logical thinking will tell you that Togo is self destructing itself. I was stunned when the player even exclaimed they might boycott the match. Haha. What the fuck. This is the World Cup Final leh, not your chap pa lang Africa Nation Cup..Hullo, are you with me? Really don't know what the hell are they thinking man...
So Chee Hui, if you got guts to go against my Got House Sell House stragedy, bet for Togo to win la...Haha but then again, don't count your chicken before they hatch so must be humble abit bit. Please let me win small small this time I also happy.
Meanwhile, I think Saudi vs Ukraine will be a draw game while Spain will win against Tunisia. But I'm not playing these 2 games...no choice. Lost too much liao must rein in abit bit. So maybe for once you all can listen to my Got House sell House stragedy to buy Spain win Tunisia then.

Grandma finally found her final resting place at the Bright Hill Temple.
A place where she spent almost 40 years praying and doing volunteering work.
A place where I often visited when I was very young running around treating it as my playground.
Anyway, my grandma urn was placed very near to my grandpa urn so in a way, they are reunited again after 13 years.
In the end, what's left of everyone when they died is only ashes to ashes, dusts to dusts.
So bear no grudges, ley bygones be bygones.
Life's too short to live it is misery.

Grandma Wake
Some stuffs discovered during grandma wake.-Cousins that I seldom meet came to gather..just like old times when we were young. Alot of catching up to do.
-Uncles which I seldom talk to decide that we are older, more mature and trust us to do stuffs assigned to us well.
-The wake is held at Ang Mo Kio, the place where I lived in when I was small..because my parents were still renting flat when I was born and I lived with my grandparents. It has been 13 long years since I last went back to the estate because my uncle moved away. Going back to the place brought back many memories I had when I was small. Eg, the barber shop which my parents dragged me to cut my hair and I always end up crying badly is gone. However, the swimming complex where I learned how to swim is still there.
-Today is my first time chanting buddhist scriptures together with my uncles, aunties, cousins and monks to help grandma achieve nirvana.
-All my relatives remarked Celin is very pretty and how come she is not my girlfriend...for goodness sake.
-Uncle told me about a little history of the family. About my late grandfather etc..
-That I am able to last thru the night guarding the wake surviving on folding paper silver ingots for grandma.

Something extremely unexpected happened today.
My grandma has just passed away this evening tragically.
And it certainly made me want to stop thinking about World Cup for now.
Rest In Peace Grandma.

Hong Kong

Here are some observation I made during the trip to Hong Kong:
1) Young people in Hong Kong dressed up very well. 6 out of 10 young ladies can be considered above average.
2) Young People in Hong Kong have a habit of sleeping very late. It was a weekday in 1am in the morning and the shops along granville road are still open selling clothes with steady stream of customers.
3)The transport system in Hong Kong is First Class. It is very accessible to get from point A to B with the many different and affortable transport available.
4)Judging by the cars roaming around the streets, you may think that Hong Kong people are damn rich, with all the mercs, ferrari, porsche, lexus, jaguar appearing everywhere you go.
5)Traffic in Hong Kong is a killer. The drivers are a dangerous bunch, esp the cab drivers who thought they are all formulae 1 driver.
4) Hong Kong is just like Singapore. Or maybe a little more stressed. You will not get a culture shock when you step into Hong Kong but you must be ready to cope with their languages. Not everyone can understand Mandarin if you don't speak Cantonese but they are generally friendly and helpful if you ask them for directions.
These are the places I managed to visit.
1)Lin Heung Tea House- Famous place for dim sum. 2)Lan Fong Yuen- Pantyhose Tea. Took a damn long time to find this shop. 3)Centrals to Mid Levels Escalator- World Longest escalator system. 4)Tram ride- Very cheap mode of transport. S$0.40 to anywhere you want within Central district 5)HSBC Tower. Wonderful piece of artitect. 6)Causeway Bay - saw Terence Cao shopping over there. 7)Causeway Place- Spent a bomb over there because the sale assistant was pretty. 8)Ocean Park- Amusement Park. The roller coaster is NOT scarey at all. 9)Mongkok (Ladies Market,Fa Yuen Street, Nathan Rd)- Super Big Pasar Malam to bargain, a place to shop and eat to your heart contend. 10)Tsim Sha Tsui- Trendy street where I was staying. Very happening in the night. 11)Avenue of Stars @ Water Promendae 12)Wong Tai Sin Temple- A very famous temple in Hong Kong. Have my fortune told. Said I will have many many girlfriends in later part of the year and I am a bookworm. Believe it anot? 13)Watched a movie in Cantonese...with the help of English subtitles of course!
Things I did not get to do.
1)Visit the Giant Buddha. 2)Travel to the Victoria Peak 3)Visit Lan Kwai Fong 4)Take the ferry. 5)Eat inside the Jumbo Floating Resturant. 6)Visit Repulse bay 7)Visit Shek O Village and beach 8)View the Symphony of Lights Multimedia Show at the Promenade. 9)Go squid Fishing. 10)Take pictures with Pretty Hong Kong babes!!! Sob Sob...
Pictures will be coming out later soon. Meanwhile on more pressing issue on hand, peeps of Class 24, make yourself free tomorrow night. We are going to somewhere to pay our last respect. Since Celin is overseas currently, I will co-ordinated the trip instead.

-Away-

Away for a short trip to Hong Kong.
Start: 05/06/06 End:08/06/06
Hey peeps of Class 24, now got something screw up already.
Bangkok Trip is suppose to be on the last week of July. 27/07/06- 30/07/06 but it will clash with the NTU sports camp. If we push back to 3/08/06-06/08/06, then my friend Audrey will not be able to join us.
The benefit of her joining us is that she can show us the direction of all the shopping hotspots so we do not have to waste time searching for direction.
The opportunity cost of going on the last week of July mean we have to forfeit knowing more pretty babes in the camp if we go.
So how, you all decide and let me know of your individual decision on the chatterbox beside the post. Bangkok is a must go trip because Im the organiser so I will make it happen! Haha so please cooperate and let me know asap so that we can book tickets at a cheaper price.
Thanks.

P5 Camp Adventure

Kids nowaday are so demanding. They have been taught to conduct their own set of thinking and as a result they often challenge your instructions for them. During the first day, I tried to talk nicely to them, hoping they will listen to instructions carefully. On the second day, I gave up. For some, scolding is a must to wake up their idea. The "lazy" me decided that shouting too much will indeed harm my throat and I took a whistle instead to control them. Woe betide anyone who misbehave. I will blow my whistle, point out the troublemakers and give them my killer stare. Most often or not, they are likely to stop any "illegal "stuffs and listen attentively.Hehe. Actually I kind of feel uneasy that we have to resort to scolding them in order to make them listen but kids being kids need to rein into control before they start to climb over your head.
There was this mother who came on the second day of camp to deliver Macdonald to her child. WTF! Can you believe it? Then there were these 2 princess in my group who are quite mature in their thinking. They will ask: "Teacher later are we having mac or Kfc? Teacher later sit down got child anot? Teacher later eat got TV to watch anot? Teacher the food taste horrible I don't want to eat." All these spoilt brats. Singapore future is dead! Haha. Remember our generation? One mean one. Walk mean walk. We are so obedient lol!
But my two princess are also the ones which I can connect with the best because I paid more attention to them. They are quite pretty too. 1 of them could even be a child model lol! When they misbehaved, I immed took out my camera and pointed at them, threatening to take their pictures, which they immed will cowered under the table or cover up their hands over their face.

But thankfully, common sense took over. I don't want to die of heart attack dealing with naughty kids everyday lol.
Can you spot 1 of my princess? She is the one on green on the left hand side of the pic. The other one went into hiding..right behind me so she is not in the picture.

New Gadget to play with.
My new phone was bought because it is a 3G and only cost $238 + $37 (1 Gig Mini SD card) = $275Enough said. So much for all the extra work I have done...gone in a flash. dammit! haha

A load off my mind. Now can concentrate on next stuff.
