watching "engine" the japanese serial drama every friday on channel U @ 11.30pm is exciting yet heart warming because it talk about fast car - "F1 car to be exact" and a bunch of "troubled" kids in the temporary "halfway" house

and everytime I watched this show also got me thinking and wondering if I should buy a ticket to watch Singapore very own F1 racing which I believed will be held in Singapore in near future. Just by listening to the powerful engine roaring past like a jet engine is enough to excite me though I guessed the ticket must be also damn expensive.

inside the show, the young kids were protected from the"harsh" environment by the adults taking care of them as each and every single of them have a history to begun with. But in the show, the adults themselves can also learn a thing or two to view the world and solve problems with a less cynical viewpoint, just like thru the viewpoint of the children.

about the last episode I watched last friday, the story was about a little girl whose father was jailed because he killed her mother. Her brother decided to hide the truth from her and told her all along that their parent were killed in a car accident. When a bunch of classmates threaten to tell the truth in front of his sister, the brother fought it out with them and invoked complains from the parents whose kids were beaten up by her brother.

However, what moved me was when the little girl actually did know the truth all along but choose not to show it, because she knew her brother was only trying to protect her. The girl have shown great maturity beyond her age by accepting the fact and allowing her only brother to perform his role wholeheartedly as a guidance for her.
Btw, I think the defination of "MATURE" can only be used on those who are able to think for others before themselves and I think she achieved the requirement handsomely to be label as mature.

in short...moral of the story is...
Jap Drama Rocks~

sometimes I feel that being frank, being direct and being honest does not necessary equate to a good virtue. When you are growing up and were being taught to be honest and tell the truth, it does not always be appreciate by other...even though you are just stating the simple truth, nothing but the truth.

perhaps that is why adults like being around with children because children can express what they think and feel honestly and truthfully without holding back their feelings.

I must admit sometimes I am too honest and truthful @ work. I feel bad having to lie to people calling in (hey at least I have a conscious) but if I don't, I always create shit for myself .

Haiz..lying is not right while being truthful is difficult. How nice it would be if I am able to lie and yet be able to carry it off. No it is not a bad thing. There is an english word invented for it and it is called "TACTFUL" Haha.. Maybe my EQ is indeed not good enough~

Today, I am thankful I played a great game of basketball and come out unscathed. Because I am quite 'Tall", more often or not I will be require to "mark" someone as tall as me if not taller and larger size than me.

Today, I went to mark a Philippine player. A bit shorter than me but his upper body strength is much more powerful. So when he bounced the ball and move into the centre circle with me behind him, the impact actually caused me to move back 2 steps.

I can feel my chest hurting just by thinking about the impact but it is good because it make you want to win, amid the suffering you have to take to guard him. But of course, it is just a 4 vs 4 friendly game and no one will like to see each other injured themselves but I came away impressed with the pace of the game and the "throw all caution to the wind" attitude of my frens who is normally more reserved.

It was a good game indeed except a lot of people didn't cut their nails and we came away with a lot of wolverine marks on our arms.

Just to share with everyone a interesting story

There was this lady who called in to enquire why did XXX company( hint hint) give her an additional gift when she only subscribe for Internet service and redeem a laptop. So the listener felt strange and probe for further details. The lady mentioned it is a cup holder and she did not specified she need a cup holder. she added on when you clicked the cup holder will slot out from the side of the laptop. She called in to enquire whether can she really out a cup onto the 'cup holder'

So do you get what I'm trying to say?

The cup holder is the dvd-rom of the laptop. I think it is a miracle she did not spill any liquid on the cup holder and close the drive...

sometimes...when you have to carry too many baggages, it sort of drag you down and worn you out. And the problem is..most of the baggages isn't mind to start with but I don't know why am I drag along with it..

so you want a "little miss sunshine" type of family, look no futher than mine..Haha

but I know I'm still considered as fortunate because I got 3 meals on my table, a roof over my head and a bed to sleep on so I just have to bear with it and yup..bear with it.

this is 1 of the thing I observed during my course of work. sometimes people buy computers or laptops because it look beautiful but have no idea how to use. I don't mean using a MAC is bad. In fact for multimedia and design, Mac operate better than a Windows but I think the most impt point to follow as a user of the device is to have at least a general technical knowledge of the devices that you are using.

Quote an example on a case I received recently. A man called in to inform he lost his wireless network connection and he is connected to other network. When I asked him what computer he used, he answered MAC. Fine no prob so I asked him again what router is he using. He answered "AIRPORT" - it is in fact a router but for some reason APPLE like to be different and named it AIRPORT. As our technical support don't support AIRPORT, I informed him so and he got very agitated about why we can't help him. In the end, I managed to get another technical officer to attend to him to resolve the issue.

1st of all, the man can use a MAC and a AIRPORT and rav and rav abt the good point of using a MAC but he do not know how to fix his wireless connection.

2ndly, he bought the products from APPPLE but do not wish to contact APPLE technical helpdesk.

3rdly, I think this type of people deserved to be shot for trying to be different when he obviously lacked the product knowledge yet bought and used it.

And therefore, most of the time the caller will always ask: "I cannot surf internet, please fix back my connection" and I will roll my eyes because I will be troubleshooting the same thing. I mean it's ok if you lack technical knowledge but if you use the computer everyday surely you will explore the features and function. It is very impt to know "what is going on" and the reason behind the things you are doing. Most of them do not know and look for help only when trouble come.

So when the Gov was indicating the wireless@sg project, I think it's gonna take another 5 years to educate singaporean with little technical knowledge except for msning, surfing net, downloading stuffs to fully utilised the technology it is going to implement.

EDUCATION is the diplomatic word while PURE STUPIDITY is the vulgar word to be use on these people.

sometimes when I wake up early in the morning @ 7am to brush up my teeth and get ready to go to work, this bread delivery uncle will drive in with his delivery truck to deliver bread to the provision shop @ the bottom of my block.

Every time he drive in, the whole estate will be able to hear Norah Jones singing : "don't know why" or sometimes "She will be loved" etc, famous songs that normally appeal to youngsters. But what's strange about this delivery man is that he is his 30-40s and I got a impression he is a ah beng because who will blast songs in his lorry stereo so early in the moming @ 7am? Perhaps this is what we called "young at heart". A perfect living example would be this delivery man!

But I do not mind the music if I'm working on that day because Norah Jones soft vocal of " don't know why I didn't come" always have a settling effect on me when I'm still half awake, brushing my teeth and starring myself in the mirror.

And I always feel more motivated as I hear the song play, that the day is going to be great and the future is gonna get better. Perhaps this is also what he feel after listening to the song as well?

because sometimes love just aint enough...
it need alot of trust and understanding as well..
I understood today. What about you?

I dont wanna lose you,
I dont wanna use you
Just to have somebody by my side
And I dont wanna hate you
I dont wanna take you
But I dont wanna be the one to cry
That dont really matter to anyone, anymore
But like a fool I keep losing my place
And I keep seeing you walk through that door

But theres a danger in loving somebody too much
And its sad when you know its your heart you cant trust
Theres a reason why people dont stay where they are
Baby sometimes love just aint enough

Now I could never change you
I dont wanna blame you
Baby you dont have to take the fall
Yes I may have hurt you
But I did not desert you
Maybe I just wanna have it all
It makes a sound like thunder
It makes me feel like rain
And like a fool who will never see the truth
I keep thinking somethings gonna change

And theres no way home
When its late at night and youre all alone
Are there things that you wanted to say
Do you feel me beside you in your bed
There beside you where I used to lay

And theres a danger in loving somebody too much
And its sad when you know its your heart they cant touch.
Theres a reason why people dont stay who they are
Cause baby sometimes love just aint enough.
Baby sometimes love just aint enough.

Does anyone of you know this character TinTin?

I absolutely adore him when I was a child, often visiting the library to scour for his comic book just to read up on his adventures. It will make my day when I found his book, if not I will considered the trip to the library wasted. There were many series but some of them just couldn't be find so I did not manage to complete the entire collection. Now looking back, it must be 10 years since I last saw the comics. It is going to made into movie form by Steven Spielberg, I wonder is it gonna be like the version of shrek or there is gonna be a real person acting as him.

Today, I went to see this show.

At the opening of the movie, the king said this to his son: "We Spartans have descended from Hercules himself. Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. Taught that death in the battlefield is the greatest glory he could achieve in his life. Spartans: the finest soldiers the world has ever known."

The show is fine. Basically it is fight after fight to defend the Spartan from the Persia king who just want submission from the Spartans by asking sand and water. The persia king looked a little gayish but their costume is very exotic. The spartan ladies often wear little and the spartan warrier have big chest and washboard abs.The cinetography was well taken, the fight scene was great, the gore scene was alright for me though I think ladies will be freak out by some of the beheading scene.

The show is also a little comical in the sense the way the battle is fought. As the Persia King have many warriors from the different regions he conquered, he tried to launch attacks after attacks using indian warriors with their giants elephants, chinese machurians warriors with their unmistakenable curl up moustache, africans warrior with their rhino and so on and so forth but all failed and it got him very angry.

Watching this show also bring back memories of the time I was in army during my SISPEC training when my Coy 2IC told us warriors who fought in ancient times were the bravest because it takes enormous guts to be in close combat and hecked off the head of your enemy. So in the sense the show did not disappoint though character development could be better instead of showcasing the battle for 3/4 of the show.

while I am working at starhub, though the work is basically picking up calls, listening to cust complains and doing admin work, in short monotonous..I think the best thing I could ever learn from the job is to " Talk, Speak and Communicate"

Speaking require confidence. And you can immediately determine right away from the voice whether a person is sure of his stuff. When I first started out I am often unsure because I lacked a lot of product knowledge regarding Starhub. Therefore I always "Erm, Huh, Loh' which thinking back is quite worrying especially if I am on the other side of the phone asking for help to solve the problem.

As time goes by and I learned and understand more about what I am dealing with, the explanation and communication gets better. I am able to calm myself, talk at a slower space and try to make myself understood to the caller in lay man term so he/she is able to understand the point I wish to make. Sometimes I do get carried away and tend to talk a little bit faster and that is when a lot of "erms, huh" came in.

Back in Polytechnic during presentation, I always talk fast not because I'm afraid of the presentation but because I have this misconception that fast english speaker like those foreigners is always better. After listening to so many calls from them and not understand what the hell are they saying, by forcing myself to speak in clear, concise, steady english is always better than rushing thru the entire conversation.

I am not saying my grasp of english language or my communication skills have reached a certain level but I am still learning to communicate effectively and I'm glad I managed to gain something out of this job stint. I'm not afraid of speaking to people over the phone and hopefully I hope to translate this skill to talking to people from all walk of life as well.

but I also understand I kept to myself too much, shunning away from people I don't know well, withdrawing to myself in deep thoughts. If there is an environment to force me to open out, that will be great as well in improving my soft skills for the working world.

yest I had a strange dream.

I dreamt there is this stray cat outside my house that was looking for a place to stay. It is white in color, quite small which led me to believe it is still a kitten. Anyway, I opened my main door and this white cat ran inside my house to seek for shelter. I don't mind animals but my parents don't like animals and so my father took a broom and drove away the white cat. I got worried whether the white cat got hurt by the broom and opened the door again to take a look. This time again, I saw again another cat, black in color scowling at me in a threatening manner saying why did I harm the white cat. For some reason or another, the white cat is apparantly the king or prince of the CAT species so the black cat is going to take revenge. I saw the black cat transforming itself in a hideous manner, with its black fur standing up and getting itself into position ready to attack. As I braced myself for the attack, the white cat suddenly stood between the black cat and me and command the black cat to stay where it was and back off. True enough, the black cat retreated and the next thing I know, the white cat turned back to the orginal meek kitten again and ran back inside my house to seek shelter.

At this point of time, I woke up thinking how this dream is so damn absurd and it absolutely ruin my sleep but thinking back perhaps this is a sign to warn me of impending danger and I might be able to meet a savior to rescue me? I'm not sure about deducing the meaning of dream so does anyone of you actually know whether is cat appearing in your dream is good or bad?

sometimes it is really funny if you noticed the way news is being reported in singapore.

remembered the taiwan earthquake last year? what singaporean could do about the quake is toCOMPLAIN internet services got disrupted and the GREAT inconveniences caused to many while at the other side of the world people are actually dying in the disaster?

so it came one full circle again when yesterday Sumatra got hit by an earthquake and what the news on tv is trying to do is to keep interviewing and reporting people working in cbd area felt the quake, people feel nausea and giddy, some want to vomit blah blah blah and I think they reported about the general feelings of PEOPLE IN SINGAPORE for at least 1/2 the period of show but not the situation in Sumatra!!! It was only until today that I did at least know about the casualty rate and such so it makes you wonder...

what is exactly wrong with us?

Sunday, March 04, 2007

I realised I got a lot of loose end to tie up. but due to lack of time + a little indecisiveness I tend to put them on hold and wait till the deadline is near before I move my ass to clear the stuffs.

this is bad..very bad..

after so many days of rain and waiting for an opportunity just to play a simple game of basketball, I finally got a chance to do so today. At 7.45pm, I asked my friend:" where all the guys?" because only 6 of us were at the basketball court. By 8.15pm, a whopping 17 people were waiting for their team and turn to play! fortunately, my team manage to make a clean sweep for 1 cycle before losing the 1st match of 2nd cycle.

great, just so wonderful to sweat it out.

And so Man Utd the red devil struck the phoenix heart at the last moment and won at Anfield. Strangely, it does sound a little bit like Harry Potter but thinking back did you ever notice it is always the fringe player that always score for Man Utd during high profile match?

Eg
-European Champion League 1999 - sheringham and solskjaer
-there was once match against arsenal I think..Diego Forlan scored
-another match against Arsenal that ended the 40 match unbeaten record - Darren Fletcher
-and today John O Shea scored today at the 90 mins to effectively push the ball back into Chelsea court to play catch up..

Great, wonderful..and i dunno why the f*** all my letters are underlined and I can't find a way to get rid of the underlined..

Glory Glory Man Utd~

I'm currently reading this book "My Life" by former president of United States- Bill Clinton. It is a very thick book with 969 pages and all the words are quite small btw. I'm currently on the 81st page so you can guess roughly how long I'm going to take to read this book. And no, I'm not sure whether did he touch on the monica lewinsky scandal...because I have not come to that part yet but the flow of the book is quite interesting ..touching on his childhood and the people he met.

somehow, I'm very much fascinated by the way he met so many talented and wonderful people during his growing up years and later they later helped him in one way or another during his political career. Or is it due to the American Dream we are talking about-if you dare to dream, if you dare to try and put your heart into it you definitely succeed?
