SIM School Visit.

Today we have 1/2 day off and therefore gary, me tok and zh decided to visit SIM to taste their foodcourt.

Once we entered the building, we just couldn't stop admiring the moving scenery that kept us all in gaze.

SIM really got alot alot alot of pretty babes. At one point of time, we walked past a lecture theatre and out of 10 ladies, at least 6 of them can be considered at above average. Gary and Tok kept commenting how are they going to concentrate if they are to study there in future.

As for me, I almost nosebleed as well. No need go orchard walk. SIM is enough.

But what struck me as strange was that people kept staring at the 4 of us while we were walking around the campus. It was only until I turned around to look at the 3 of them then I knew the answer immediately.

1 simple look and we can be immediately recognised as guys still serving NS. Fuck.

I think I need to upgraded my attire come May. Student Lifestyle is always great.

Between the devil and the deep blue sea

Something unfortunate happened this morning.

Apparently, after listening a reply to my question, something in me snapped and in a heat of the moment, I typex a email that is not very neutral and impartial to my PC to complain regarding a person attitude towards being punctual.

On a hindsight, I should have consult the rest of the people as they may be able to paint a better picture as a 3rd party viewing at the sideline, but the damages has been done because I have been perceived as stabbing him behind his back even though we are good friend.

But this is my principle. Work is still work, play is still play. If it is another person repeating the same action over and over again, I will not be hesitate to bring the matter up again, but this time in a more compose and organized manner.

I'm sorry if I may have hurt you. Very sorry but if this is what I have to do to make sure it does not spread to the rest of others, I will still have to do it.

Please try to understand if you can.

Love of the Game

Just now at 8pm, I threw all caution to the wind (Bo Ga Lan in Hokkien) and went down to play basketball with my khakis.

As a precaution, I took 1 bandage, cut into 2 to become 2 bandage so that I can wrapped them tightly around my individual ankle in case it got sprain again.

Primary Reason: I lost my only ankle guard.

Luckily, it was a good game. Nothing went wrong except now the ankle feel a little tad funny after exerting too much twists and turns suddenly after a long lay-off.

Sometimes, we should just go with our heart and passion, not logics or whatever fuck shit rules that need to be follow.

Absolute Trust

Up till now, not many seems to believe all Singaporean currently serving NS will get $100 come this 1st May for NSF.

Nevermind, it's alright. Anyway I am going to drop another bombshell. Well actually not because it has been explained clearly in the newspaper.

All Singaporean currently still serving NS of the age of 21 and above ( dated as on 31 Decemeber 2005) will get more than the $ 100 stated as part of the PROGRESS PACKAGE. Which mean to say that you will definitely get more than $100 if you fulfilled the above mentioned criteria. However, you may not necessary get the $100 this May because the amount will be included inside the progress package instead.

That's the benefits of reading the Routine Order everyday without fail.

Trust me. Even if I admit I lacked the integrity of an officer because I like to play by left too much (That's sergeant motto for you), this type of money matter cannot anyhow play play one lol...

Imprints In Our Life

Sometimes, it makes me wonder whether our life is laid out in such a way that it consist of a huge piece of window with many many imprints on it. Some may be large, while others are just tiny speck of dust. There is no doubt that whoever crosses our life at any point of time, no matter how insignificant, will leave us with an impression of him/her. For those who may contributed greatly to your happiness, or those who may have hurt you greatly for you to hate them deep to the core, similarly, their imprint on the mirror will hence be larger too. Unfortunately, for all the powerful stain cleaners available in the whole wild world, there is not one that is strong enough to erase your memories, that is unless you gone bonkers and forgot everything. The imprints make out who you are, for everyone goes thru different experiences in life. No two people are alike in this world, just like there is only one world and one golden sun.

I typed the above because I recently re-read “5 persons you meet in Heaven” and it left me a very deep impression yet again regarding the type of people you came across in your life. Ideas begun churning out, thicker and thicker until it form the above paragraph.

Back at my workplace, I got the opportunity to mix around with all types of NSmen, some of which are very successful outside, some of which are struggling to keep afloat. Sometimes when they talk about their work or their families, we being the youngest among the group would just often keep quiet and just open our ear wide and listen. When we listen, it doesn’t not necessary mean we are required to believe whatever story they say. Sooner or later, our mind will be able to filter out which is pure fantasy or which path is worth emulating. Indirectly, it also give us a rough idea what is the current economy like, what can be expected of you when you reach a certain age, what is your limitations after you pass a certain stage in your life. We can read the newspaper for all we want but nothing beats face-to-face conversation. And therefore, I’m glad I have gain something useful in my course of monotonous work and am looking forward in future to apply and enrich my life with those late nights “Life” lessons spent around talking with them.

I want to be a successful person in life. And though I know my path is not going to be easy and smooth sailing( it’s never is and I think it never will), I hope I’ll be able to achieve it within the best of my ability.

Bonus!

If only her stare can kill, you'll already dead a thousand times.Above is Kou Shibasaki.

For those who are not keeping abreast with the new Singapore budget, there is this good piece of news for those who are currently serving their nation.

As from 1st May 2006, $100 will be appearing in your bank account. Not to worry, this is definitely not someone who accidentally deposits their money into another wrong account incident but actually a reward from the Government of Singapore for all the hard work, sweat, blood, effort, Sai Kang, Arrowing, confinement, extras and holidays sacrifices because of the nation interest before self.

But before you get too happy, this is only a one time payment. Another $300 will go into your bank account again after you ORD.

For a poor soldier like me, this is a welcome news for it means I can set aside apart of my saving to travel overseas without worrying the additional burden it might bring to my savings preparing for the start of varsity life in August.

If you are wondering why the amount is set at $400, it is because it is the nation 40th birthday as counted from last national day. It’s true. If you don’t believe me, go read newspaper lol. I wondered what will happen if it is the national 50th birthday…does it mean we get $500 instead. Hehe

Today while I was channel surfing, I came across a Japanese drama “Good Luck” on Channel U at 1700hrs. It’s quite a nice show about aviation work as well as the people working in it. Pilots, air-stewardess, maintenance crew etc on how they perform to their best of ability to serve the air passenger whole-hearty. You can also sneak a peek to witness a Boeing 777 soars up the skies, bringing along the hope, happiness, despair, and unhappiness of the passengers onboard. I like Japanese drama. As I stated before, the serial drama may only contain 15 episodes but every single episode contains good quality production. It also doesn’t harm to know that the actresses are pretty too. Keke.

Look at what TCS is doing to our Singapore Channel 8 drama scene? 7 pm golden time slot are now showing foreign production. 9pm golden timeslot also show foreign production. Where the fuck did all the Singapore actor, actress, producer, director disappear into? KNN. Then why the heck people still SMS to support their favourite actors or actresses during the Annual Star Award if they are being relegate to the bottom? Goodness, I didn’t know outsourcing actually creeps into the TV industry as well.

Breaking Down one by one

It was only until yesterday I realize the full extend of damage inflicted on my left ankle after years of playing basketball and spraining them in the process. In a series of short and simple test, my physiotherapist made me realize how weak my ankle has become and chided me for not taking care of them properly. Hehe. It’s like telling a person not to go skydiving because it’s dangerous but people still do it because of the enjoyment and thrill involved. She also mentioned I have flat feet which is kinda of surprise because I don’t remember I have flat feet when I was enlisted in the army 1 ½ years ago. Which lead me to read in today newspaper “Urban” that standing for too long can also result in flat feet overtime. KNNBCCB. Somehow or rather, I suspected my condition is linked to the amount of time spend standing while I am on duty. Flat feet cannot be cured…dammit and you cannot downgrade because you have flat feet.

I read of the murder case at Serangoon Garden which the murderer fired 6 rounds at the nightclub owner and were left wondering what should be his punishment once he is caught by the police. Maybe we can have a firing squad to fire 30 rounds at him to let him have a taste of so many bullets through his head and inflicting large huge holes draining all the brain matters and whatever gluey substances inside. An eye for an eye. He thinks Singapore is a lawless county. Let’s prove him wrong shall we?

Today, we have an incident at the pass office where Tokie was talking cock with a NsMen when CSM walked into the office, caught Tokie in the act and immediately rebuked him “Got so much time to Talk Cock right?” Looking at his comical stunned expression, I couldn’t help but sniggle but knew something big is brewing but I didn’t expect me to join him in the massive clearing up of paperwork waiting for us. Haiz, what to do? According to the Chinese proverb, “Wed chicken follows chicken. Wed dog follows dog” Just our luck we got hit by the stray bullets flying around.

Please, LCD monitor, please don’t break down on me. I don’t have money to buy a new one to replace you lol.

That day of the Year again...

It seems that Singapore is being swarmed with the mood for love for Valentine day will be descending on this coming Tuesday.

It was once upon a time when I felt Valentine day is suppose to mean roses, expensive dinner followed by a romantic walk by the beach under the starry starry night enjoying the sea breeze caressing across both you and your lover faces, holding hands, whispering sweet nothing to each other ears and follow by some thick action among the bushes. Ok fine, the last action is actually optional to some, depending on situation of course.

But then that was the past.

Last Valentine, we were kindly given night out and together with my course buddies, we went to have dinner. Even though the company was all guys, we had great fun.

This year, I’ll be going home straight after I dismount from my duty to sleep instead.

Being single for the past 2 years and still counting, I have witness myself and wondered the hypes surrounding Valentine Day, especially it is so commercialized and every restaurants and flower-sellers seem hell on to cheat your hard earn money just because it is Valentine Day.

This is not a case of sour grapes. Seriously, it takes a lot of fate, luck and the right combination for 2 person to gel together as one couple and it certainty don’t take a single day out of the rest of 364 days to tell that special one how much you love and treasure him/her. That is what I am trying to say if you don’t understand what the hell I am trying to convey till now.

Till now, I still don’t believe in handling relationship issue while still serving NS because I felt it will become a hindrance and liability in a long run. Perhaps I still lack trust in and most probably it’s the case of me shrinking back in my own shell instead of socializing more often.

But when I wish to someone to share my inner thoughts, joy, happiness ( very seldom ) sadness or such, that’s when the inner pangs hits me hard because I realize there is no other half that is special enough to do so.

Though often sooner or later, as time pass by, that sort of feeling become numb, I’ll get use to it and often the best remedy to counter is sleep.

An advance Happy Valentine day to all because I’ll be in camp tomorrow.

Btw, I am looking for a non camera hand phone because mine gone bonkers so if you have one that is still working and wish to sell it, contact me please. Thousand thanks.

Back Home

I’m back from the chalet.

The chalet is called SAF holiday chalet and it is located somewhere near Change village. It offers a wonderful view of the sea as well as Pulau Ubin and somehow it reminds me of the time I spent at Tioman Island with my poly buddies. Yup, the view is that great with constant sea breeze all day and night long, even in the hot and humid afternoon.

However, being able to appreciate the view also mean there will be a trade off in term of entertainments available. The chalet is damn fucking boring because there are absolutely nothing to do at all except watching DVD and talking cock. Beside, being part of the platoon chalet, we were not allowed to wander around without permission and there were times when I suspect I am being held under house arrest. So much for the scenery, the curfews plus the rules and regulations have to ruin it all.

The façade of Change village surprised me to a certain extent because the changes are quite apparent. The old jetty was gone and a newer, larger, much spacious and better looking design jetty took its place. There is also a man made lagoon if I am not wrong, allowing fishing enthusiasts and couples another perfect hangout. Changi Village still retained its old charm though as a perfect place to spend the afternoon la kopi and wait for time to pass by. The transvestites still remain at their original location, hanging out at car park during late hours. Some of them are really damn pretty but such a pity Tokie rejected all our offers to get one for him despite condoms, cash and room available.

We also visited the US aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan at CNB. It is a super enormous ship with enormous significance attached to it. (FYI, the whole Singapore navy can jump into that single ship and there will still be spaces available available) It hit on me immediately once I step foot on the ship that USA is truly one of the few remaining superpower in the world, as what the many many many planes and helicopters can show testimony to. The officers are very friendly and we were shown around the ship, visiting the ship deck which is at least 7 storeys high as well as speaking to the pilots (male and female included). Such a pity I left my camera behind at the chalet because I thought picture taking are forbidden. Imagine how I felt when the officer said “Take Take Take as much pictures as you like”. KNNBCCB. Bought a Zippo Lighter as a souvenir even though I don’t smoke because it seems weird to leave without buying anything and beside the lady behind the cashier look beautiful with her attractive blue eyes. Hehe

Speaking on which, going back to Changi also mean revisiting the old haunts we used to hang out during our course. Standing at the spectator stand overlooking the parade square and the big blue sea ahead, going back to Blk 215, hanging out in the canteens, walking down the stairs with the metal protective plate on the edge damaged due to the constant shifting of super heavy cupboard and bed frames from 1st to 4th floor and 4th floor to 1st place, you get pretty much the idea what it actually mean to us back then. But then again, it’s all over and no one but ourselves can only understand what the hell we went thru so much for in exchange for something we do not have much use for.

A picture says a thousand words. Click on the flickr badge on the right hand side of the screen to see for yourself what we did during the chalet instead.

The Beach

Just to inform everyone, I’ll be joining a platoon chalet at Changi from tomorrow till Friday and therefore there are unlikely to be any updates till this coming weekend.

Personally, I felt the chalet is a stupid idea because we faced each other every other day and beside there are quite a number of rules and restriction.

One of the rules was: all activities must be conducted in PT rig.

My goodness. How about another idea to complement the rule above? Conducting morning run every 8am sharp or sing out loud March in steps when traveling from one point to another?

I hope my PC will not have to stick to the rules for if not it’s gonna be a very boring 4 days 3 night chalet.

I do pray for Tokie safety that he’ll be able to come back in one piece though.

Today I changed Sing $163.50 for US $100. Damn expensive but have to do it if I want to buy souvenirs from the aircraft carrier.

Will be back with lots of pictures. So long!

word of wisdom

I went on a house-visiting trip to my secondary school form teacher apartment together with my batch boys and some of the girls yesterday. And it never fails to amaze me that my teacher actually remembers the name of every single one of us. Btw, this is also my first house-visiting trip since the start of the New Year 7 days ago. The rest of the time is actually spending doing duty, to be exact or resting.

And mind you, we graduated from secondary school in 2000 and that make it 6 in a row consecutive visit once a year, same period of time to be exact. And of course, she did welcome us with open arms, showing genuine concern and interest in what we are currently doing and such so I guessed the relationship between us and her obviously run quite deep to a certain extent. Special credit must also be given to the organizer for his/her time and effort to contact some of the long lost friends.

And of course, remaining true to our tradition, we gambled at our teacher house. I was on a lucky streak during the booming period ( I got 3 cards of 7 to make it 21. 7 times PAYOUT Lol ) but unfortunately depression era came in and I lost all my winning and were reduced to minor losses. Such a pity. KNNBCCB, make me happy for nothing. But then the amount is small, the company was great so it’s all add up the same.

Sometimes, there are relationship that are meant to last, that are meant to be value while there are always other who don’t deserve your precious time and effort to maintain. It remain a difficult task to decide which is which and will always remain so until someday the truth is out but then you realize it’s too late to do anything to remedy the situation.

So my advice is, the friendship between 2 souls didn’t come by chance, don’t let a moment of madness ruin the entire magic we have together.

Full of Grace

Yesterday I went for my follow up appointment at NUH.

And did I forgot to mention the lady receptionist @ NUH Clinic B was so full of grace that I could not help but to keep observing her while I wait for my queue to be call up to see the doctor.

If you are near that area, do hop over and take a look…provided you are not at the hospital for all the wrong reasons.

On a more serious note, the doctor has diagnosed a rather weak ankle on both my left and right foot perhaps due to recurring sprains. The good news however is, there are no ligaments damage or fractures at all. Once again, it’s back to the physiotherapy table again to strength the ankle area.

I think my physiotherapist is a lady. I hope she’s similar to the one at Selerang camp where I got treated for my knee though.

2 months excused running, jumping.dammit.

Wrong time, wrong place. Next week is supposed to be my platoon chalet at Seaview resort. 4 days 3 nights lol. I think I’m going to miss a lot of sporting activities but nevertheless the highlight will still be on Tokie for we’ll be hiring a "Ba Pok" (transvestite) to sodomise him…courtesy of platoon 1.

I think I am going to board the aircraft carrier too next Thursday.

So many of good news. I think my luck has just turn slightly for the better/

I Not Stupid Lei

When was the last time someone praised you?

When was the last time you praised someone?

I seriously think this movie is quite entertaining. I strongly recommend all of you to watch it. A real glimpse of Singapore education system as well as the problems facing the youth nowadays...ya I know we have already cross that stage. You tell me still got which movie that can allow you to listen to "Hokkien" in the cinema?
